Pillow Alarm! – The ZEN of sleeping positions.
How to Sleep Comfortably Even If You’re A Side, Stomach, Or Back Sleeper
Most of us are used to sleeping on our backs. If you’re one, you can sleep like a baby without even thinking of your bed’s firmness (or the lack thereof).
But if you feel that pinching feeling in your shoulders or hips when you wake up, then it could mean that there’s something wrong with your current bedding.
I’m going to demonstrate the most comfortable sleeping positions for people who have neck pain.
We’ll start with the most comfortable way to sleep on your back, followed by the most comfortable position to sleep on your side.
And yes, I’ll demonstrate a sleeping position on your stomach even though it’s not recommended for people who have neck pain, but I’ll show a position that you might be considering.
• Get more comfortable in bed
• Lower your chance of neck pain with these positions
• Prevent or limit the need for medication to help with neck pain
• Be able to sleep without tossing and turning all night.
You should have a better pillow because sleeping on your back means having a better curve under the back of your neck supported. The problem is that if the pillow is too high, we’ll lift the head forward, which is something the neck doesn’t like, so slowly bring your head back so we can find a solution to this problem. See if you have a towel or a memory pillow, and then roll over onto your back to see if your neck is supported.
If it is, then that’s a great way to sleep. Look at Darcy’s shoulders; he’s rather broad from top to bottom, so he’ll need a thick pillow to provide enough support for his head and neck. If you’re a little smaller at home, you may be able to get away with using only one thick pillow; he’ll likely require the usage of two thin pillows. To ensure that your heads are not tilted to one side or back up if the pillows are too high, Darcy, let’s get you back on your side. I’ll get those two pillows we used earlier on back on. Okay, so let’s start with one.
You can see right away that the neck is children who won’t feel comfortable lying down with just one pillow. Now that I’ve won, how about a thicker cushion? Your head still seems to be somewhat inclined down. Therefore I’m going to deliver the feather pillow instead of the down one.
“You should have a better pillow because sleeping on your back implies that the lower part of your neck should be correctly supported. The issue is that if the pillow is too tall, we’ll raise the head forward, which isn’t good for the neck, so slowly return your head to find a solution to this problem.”

Alright, and in that position good how does that feel now and so from behind and you can see that the head is straight. It’s in line with the center of the back and the neck, so and that’s where it’s at. Simply verifying your alignment within the line will be helpful, so please bring these with you.
You were keeping your arm down while sleeping is also important. I don’t recommend it for you, but for those of you who sleep on your stomach at home, you might want to give it a shot. The first step is to remove your pillow because you don’t want any pillow underneath your head when you’re on your stomach. Next, don’t bring your hand up under your head while sleeping. I’d love to hear your comments at home on whatever position suits you and gives you the most comfortable night’s sleep. Thank you so much for watching today. I hope this video helps you have a good night’s rest. I’ll see you next time bye for now.
– The most common way to sleep is on your back.
– You will need a thicker pillow when sleeping on your back for support for the neck.
– This position is best for people who have a rounded curve in their neck when standing up.
– The head should be in line with the spine when in this position.
– A thin, softer pillow is better for people with a slimmer neck or smaller frame so they can get away with using one pillow instead of two.
– It’s not recommended to sleep on your stomach if you have neck pain because it puts strain on the muscles and vertebrae when they’re out of alignment.
Don’t bring your hands up underneath your head while sleeping on your stomach to fix this problem.
– This position is best for people who have a flat or inverted curve in their neck when standing up.
– When lying on the side, make sure not to sleep with one arm down because it will cause strain on the neck and shoulder muscles.
